This camera obscura is the building adjacent to Flamsteed House, which
was named after the first Astronomer Royal who set up his Observatory
there. The camera obscura was installed in 1994.
The lens is 8" in diameter, achromatic & coma free with a focal
length of 22 feet and a focal ratio of F34. The flat screen is about 4
feet in diameter and the mirror a 9" x 12" octagon. The panning
mechanism does not go completely round but travels from side to side and
produces views over the National Maritime Museum and the River Thames.
